FOR WRITING ESSAYS:

First and foremost... If you are writing an essay in Spanish, use the same ideas for writing as you would an English class essay. Your English teachers provide you with very good ideas on sentence structure and the overall completion of your essays. Use their guidelines and ideas for completing Spanish essays as well.

An acceptable Spanish essay would have the following components:

Introduction- Topic/Main idea and a preview of your subtopics. A hook (why do I- the reader- want to continue reading?) A basic idea that you will answer the question at hand in the coming paragraphs.

Body- Topic sentence for each paragraph. Details that will unravel the overall topic of the essay and topic for each paragraph as well. I would also like you to include specific ideas that support your argument/topic. Transitions from one paragraph to another that help the ideas flow are also a MUST!

Conclusion- A way to take all of your ideas and wrap them up. The conclusion is KEY to creating a thorough and cohesive essay.
